cancer cachexia

The cancer cachexia syndrome, defined
as a wasting syndrome involving loss of muscle and fat
caused directly by tumor factors, or indirectly by an aberrant
host response to tumor presence, is found in 80% of
patients with advanced cancer, most commonly in those with
lung and upper gastrointestinal malignancies.
