Controlling
nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing chemotherapy
Toward more effective clinical
practice
David Warr, MD, FRCPC and Carlo DeAngelis,
PharmD
Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting
continues to be an issue for some patients receiving chemotherapy,
despite widespread use of 5-HT3 receptor antagonists
and dexamethasone. Implementation of recommendations based
on evidence from randomized, Phase III clinical trials would
help address many of the situations where patients continue
to experience nausea and vomiting.
