Toronto Cancer is a continuing education (CE) meeting for healthcare
professionals who want to give the very best care to cancer patients
and their families at any point along the cancer care continuum.
Outcomes will improve if we can detect cancer earlier, diagnose
more precisely, tailor treatment appropriately and support patients
throughout their journey. Patients need the engagement and skill
set of a host of health professionals in the formal cancer system
and the wider community. This meeting was conceived of and designed
to place the patient perspective at the forefront and provide an
interprofessional perspective in translating the latest innovations
into clinical practice. The second annual meeting will be held November
22 and 23, 2012 in Toronto.
Highlights from 2011
Toronto Cancer 2011 was the inaugural meeting. It was a marriage
of 2 established CE meetings the Princess Margaret Hospital
Conference and the University of Toronto Surgical Oncology Update.
Academic oversight increased with the addition of the Odette Cancer
Centre. Dr Andy Smith, Cancer Care Ontario (CCO) Regional Vice-President
of Toronto Central North, and Mary Gospodarowicz, CCO Regional Vice-President
of Toronto Central South, were co-Chairs, along with Pamela Catton,
