AMERICAN
PSYChOSOCIAL ONCOLOGY ANNUAL CONFERENCE (APOS) February 23-25, Miami,
Florida
IN BRIEF
Already known
Young adults with cancer are a unique group
and require specialized psychosocial resources.
In the past decade, this need for tailored
resources has been increasingly recognized.
What this study showed
This patient-led film resource is of value
not only to patients/survivors but also to family members, health
professionals and the general population.
Viewers strongly connected with all the
themes presented in the film, and highly recommend the resource
to others.
Next steps
Further research is needed to explore how/why
different groups related to different themes, whether the film
changes viewers understanding of the young adult cancer
patient experience, and what specifically drew viewers toward
this film.
Continuing to forge researcher/patient
partnerships is important to ensure that emerging resources are
empirically validated.
